Alcohol inks workshops
Alcohol Ink Workshops
In this beginner-friendly workshop, you will be guided by Barbara who is an experienced teacher. She will demonstrate many techniques and talk through safety measures on how to create unique abstract artworks using a variety of alcohol inks and other materials.
You will create 4 sample technique swatches and 1 A4 picture and 1 ceramic tile.
Batik painting
Batik painting
Batik painting is a technique for creating fabulous designs on fabric using hot wax and fabric dyes. It is an ancient art form that originated in the Far East and is now a popular contemporary art form.
You will learn the process of applying hot wax using a tjanting tool. You will then mix coloured dyes, and learn colour blending, and layering as you apply them to the cotton fabric. Finally you will remove the wax to leave a beautiful design.
Gelli plate printing
Gelli Plate Printing
Gelli plate printing is similar to mono-printing, but instead of using a glass printing surface, you use a gelatin plate. It is a soft texture but durable and re-usable. The difference with the gelatin plate is that the paint lifts onto your paper or material very easily and quickly, and the effects can be amazing.

I use acrylic paints and emulsions with hand made stencils and stamps, but the possibilities are endless.
Needle felting workshop
Needle Felting Workshop
Learn how to create wonderful 3D animals using the needle felting technique. It can also be used to make a flat piece of felt with a lovely landscape theme.
Create a 3-dimensional form from wool fibres using a special barbed needle, you will use a stabbing action into the fluffy fibres, thus knitting those fibres together or sculpting them.
Nuno felt making
Nuno Felt Making
In this workshop you will make a unique Nuno felted scarf by applying wool to finely woven material.
Nuno technique is a fascinating process, the wool fibres shrink as they trap the material, leaving a beautiful subtle texture unlike any other technique. It will keep you cool in the warmer weather but warm during the winter too. They also look fabulous as wall-hangings of table runners. You will see several examples to inspire you before you start.
Wet Felting
Wet Felting
Wet felting is a technique for binding wool and other fibres together to create a piece of woollen cloth. This can be used in a variety of ways. You can use the technique to make a landscape picture, cosy slippers, a useful bag, a bowl and a picture, or an upholstered footstool.
You will learn how to blend your colours like an artist mixes paints and incorporate a selection of alpaca, Wensleydale curly tops and silky shimmers to enhance your picture.
